As of 10 August 2023, Meta (Facebook) updated the Facebook and Instagram Shops functionality. This feature is only available to businesses using Checkout with Facebook & Instagram in the U.S. This means that South African merchants are no longer able to use the Shops feature on all ecommerce platforms, however Advertising features are still available. FAQ’s

Prior to 10 August 2023, South African merchants were able to set up a Facebook Shop using Facebook Business Manager or by connecting their Facebook Business account to Netcash Shop and other ecommerce platforms. With the introduction of Checkout with Facebook & Instagram, this is no longer possible and South African merchants can only sell on Facebook using Facebook Advertising, organic posts, and promoted posts.

You can use Facebook’s organic (free) and advertising (paid for) features to reach more customers and increase your brand awareness. Posting content like images, videos, reels and stories to your Facebook account, engaging with customers via Facebook Messenger, and running targeted ad campaigns all improve your businesses performance over time.
